Around the Way

What up world? Please pardon my absence, I have been super busy working on my new company and life just in general.. So I get home last night from work and park my car. As I am getting my things together to exit the car I am approached by a lady who is speaking to me through the window. I have no idea what she is saying because I am not that great in reading lips....As I exit the car she says " Oh, I am sorry I was speaking to you in Spanish" My spanish is pretty decent, but her saying sorry had to do with my skin color, since I am of a darker shade...but I will explain to you the circumstances to what would make her say that, since I know that there are Latinos darker than me. She clearly was not thinking right which was summed up in her initial question which was " I am sorry, but I just wanted to know if you have some change because I need to call an ambulance"????? Are you serious??? Is this what it has come to now??? So I reply "Last time I checked to call 911 is a free call" So here is the kicker, and please excuse me if I assume wrong since it has been awhile that I have used a public pay phone she goes " No, not from the payphone" World, Hold On........ shout out to Bob Sinclair.....Have a great day World!!!!! Yep!!!!

Paying Homage (pt.3)

What's up my people?? So continuing with my homage theme I felt it was only right to spotlight one of the best that has ever done it, and still doing it... Dj KIIIIIIIIDDDDD Capri.... This brother has transcended the epitome of the "DJ"....I remember the first time hearing one of his mix tapes....Crazy....I remember his show on 107.5 WBLS a couple of years back... The first time I meet Kid Capri was on a paintball trip he put together.. We took buses out to PA during the winter... It was Diamond, my brother KX, and myself....It was a cool day. The second time meeting him was to just hangout and listen to some beats over in Riverdale where he was living at the time near Diamond... It has been a pleasure listening to you over the years...So as a Dj you have certain moments in your career that you get excited about..Coming up this Tuesday September 15th, our company 238 Beats Entertainment alongside many other great promotions and entertainment companies have teamed up to bring Dj Kid Capri to his first ever NYC residency at club Taj....I won't say that I have butterflies, but I am excited to share the turntables with this legend....So it will be a great night NY and great experience....Make sure you comeout that night..doors open @ 8:00 pm with red carpet flare!!!!!!!If you miss it "The Jokes on You Jack".......Yep!!!!! Paying Homage (pt.2)

Okay, so next up.....I will spotlight my boy Diamond D......I don't have to go down the catalog of his joints....I can go through many studio sessions...Tours!!!! Good times.....As an artist with the ground breaking "Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop" album solidified him as a force to be reckoned with.... Classic joints..... The sophmore album "Hatred, Passion & Infidelity" proved to be another stellar project. I was blessed to land a track on that album "JD's Revenge" The production across the entire Legendary "D.I.T.C" crew........speaks for themselves...Brand Nubians...Fat Joe....The Alkaholics....Ras Kass....Fugees....I mean the boy has produced for Natalie Cole!!!!!! It was a privilege to be a part of this movement....So, I take off my headphones....and salute you "The General" D-Squizzy, Ben Grimm..." Diamond is dope" Nuff Said!!!!!! Aight!!!!

Paying Homage (pt.1)

I could go on and on in regards to this topic, but since this will be sort of a miniseries, I am going to start with the person who got me involved with Dj'ing which would be my brother Dj KX. Giving some brief history if you didn't already have the inside scoop my Dj name use to be Dj Shaease(production credits read this way, it was really Shaeaze). I was a member of Diamond D & The Psychotic Neurotics, "Sally got a one track mind, Best Kept Secret, The ish is Real", you get the point( I will get deeper (shout to the Dj Deepa in the UK) into that story in pt.2, yes I was a psycho(hype man if you will alongside Wiz-One). My brother was Diamond's Dj. So rewinding a couple of years before that, I followed my brother around to neighborhood parties as he spun. The equipment would be in the house, so I started to indulge in this art form, which is still my passion to this day. So shouts to you Dj KX, thank you for not being the older brother who got annoyed when his sibling was around, and guiding me in this Hip-Hop!!!! Yep!!!!

The Hats I Wear

Today is the first day of the Fall semester 2009 for me as an Adjunct. I get to help guide the future of the world in the field of Forensic Science. I hold a BS degree in Forensic Science/Criminalistics. This will be my third semester in this position. It is nice to still be in an academic atmosphere while not actually engaging in school work..........So, off to work as I prepare materials for new freshman coming to fill there brains with a plethora of information....Yep!!!!

Dj For Hire

Okay, so I just came back from a family BBQ that a family member of mine has each year. I was originally asked to Dj for this event, but my Dad decided that it would be too much work to bring a generator.....etc....etc.....etc.....So as I arrived I heard the music playing......profanity blaring.....As a professional I try to make sure the music I play is clean, especially for this event since KIDS ARE IN THE PARK!!!!!!! Long story short, this Dj was playing audio from mixtape Dj's.....Nothing wrong with that...Shouts to LoveBug Starski.......but in this case.....it wasn't.....The songs would cutoff mid-verse.....So I walked over to ask for one of his business cards since he was shouting out that he is for HIRE come see him....When I asked for a card..He said" I don't have any cards at the time" that is so unprofessional of me, a girl behind me said" I thought you have business cards"....Hmmmmm, you think...especially after he was just announcing that he is available.....Okay well I let that one slide since there have been many times I have been caught without business cards.....So fastforward....You would figure that he would just pull out his cellphone or tell me to take down his number.....This brother decides to ask for a pen, and does he pullout a piece of paper???? Nope, this brother rips a Newport cigarette box in half and proceeds to write his information on that!!!!!! This isn't a young teenager just starting out in this wonderful craft that I LOVE.....He is up there.......I just shook my head as I walked away...What is more important is that his set up was from 1970...well I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.....I could go on and on, but I said long story short about two paragraphs ago......Get your game up fake Dj's......You are an embaressment....Yep!!!!!
